Sample answer outline: Link the software to the output: “In [software categories] I have produced topographic survey drawings, cross-section and volume calculations and setting-out drawings; on the GIS side I have done spatial data editing and querying” is a useful pattern. Add that you are on top of drawing standards and layer conventions, and be honest about your level.

3. What do you do if you spot a setting-out error on site?

How to approach: Explain instrument calibration, closure checks and the habit of taking an independent check measurement.

Sample answer outline: List the layers of control: “I keep on top of instrument calibration; I run closure checks on my measurements and verify critical points with an independent second measurement” is a useful pattern. Emphasise that you run consistency checks when processing the data in the office and that you never “fudge” an out-of-tolerance result.
