Why they ask: Measures a risk-based audit mindset and knowledge of methodology.

How to approach: Walk through your risk assessment process and how you set materiality.

2. How do you handle a conflict with the audited party?

Why they ask: To see your independence and professional discipline.

How to approach: Explain how you use the proper corporate channels while safeguarding your objectivity.

3. How do you determine the significance and urgency of a finding when reporting it?

Why they ask: Assesses the quality of your judgement and communication skills.

How to approach: Explain your rationale — an impact × likelihood matrix, or the regulatory / operational risk involved.

4. Have you ever come across an unexpected sign of irregularity during an audit?

Why they ask: Measures fraud awareness and knowledge of protocol.

How to approach: Explain how you ensured proper documentation, escalation and confidentiality.

5. How do you bring data analytics tools into your audit work?

Why they ask: Assesses your adaptation to digital ways of working and your efficiency mindset.

How to approach: Describe the sampling / anomaly detection you have done with tools such as IDEA, ACL or SQL.

6. What is your process for following up on internal control weaknesses after reporting them?

How should I prepare for an interview?

Study likely questions in advance, prepare a concrete example from your own experience for each (using STAR) and rehearse out loud.

How much should I talk in my answers?

Ideally 60–90 seconds per question. Too short seems disengaged; too long seems unfocused.

What if I get a question I do not know?

Be honest; say you do not know, but add how you would learn it or a similar experience. Making things up is the biggest mistake.
