I separate biological from technical replicates and include enough replicates to see the variability. I have learned through experience that a poorly designed experiment is the most expensive one.
3. What do you do when your experimental result cannot be reproduced?

How to approach: Show that you do not force the result but isolate the variables one by one to find the cause.
Sample answer outline: First, without panicking, I list all the differences between the two experiments and isolate variables one by one — reagent lot, instrument, timing. Because my records are detailed I can trace back. If it still does not hold, I do not hide it; I share it with the team and re-standardise the experimental conditions.
4. What is your approach to laboratory safety and biosafety rules?

How to approach: Concretely list personal protective equipment, waste management and awareness of risk classification.
Sample answer outline: I treat safety as a ground rule that cannot be bent for speed; personal protective equipment and an orderly workspace are routine for me. I strictly follow the procedures and waste management appropriate to the risk class of the material I work with. When I see a safety breach, I do not hesitate to speak up.
5. How do you keep your data and experimental records?

How to approach: Describe your notebook/digital record system and the "another person could reproduce it" standard.

My standard is this: another researcher reading my records should be able to repeat the experiment exactly. I store raw data without ever overwriting it and keep analysis files separate.
